Back in late 2014, there were a few people telling me that H-Town real estate was done…finished…kaput. “The Saudis and their oil play are going to kill the Houston market.

Well, according to the Wall Street Journal, the Saudis gambled, and Houston won.

But an interesting thing happened on the way to the collapse of the Texas economy—it didn’t collapse.

First, many people still don’t seem to realize how diversified the state economy has become. –

Top 3 Neighborhoods That Have Kept Home Staging for Houston Busy in 2015…

1. The Houston Heights

Most of our home stages this year have been in The Heights. We have strong relationships with many of Houston’s real estate investors, and this area is very popular with home flippers.

Most of those have been complete tear downs and rebuilds, and those homes are then sold to young (upwardly mobile) professionals like new lawyers and medical professionals.

2. Westbury

This area is booming, and our staged homes do not sit on the market in this part of town.

Alan Hernandez of White Picket Realty actually sold my brother a home in this area about 2 years ago. We are seeing the same trend as in The Heights.

Somebody moves out of a home that was built in the 1950s, that home is purchased by an investor who throws about $30k – $40k into the property…gets it staged…and has a young (medical professional) buyer in about 3 weeks or less.

And we are seeing multiple buyers & bidding wars here. One drawback to living in Houston is the traffic, and this area of town has a short commute to the Med Center, which may account for its popularity.

3. Spring Branch

We were surprised by the growth in this area of town, but you’re out there by the Beltway and I-10, and that gives you great access to the Energy Corridor and some of Houston’s other business venues.

In The Heights, we see young professionals who haven’t quite started their family yet. In Spring Branch we see those same type of young professionals who have begun to have children and are perhaps considering the school districts outside of The Loop.

The Sky is Not Falling

Well, I don’t know what the next predicted catastrophe will be for Houston Real Estate. All I know is that this ain’t your 1980s Houston, Texas. We are fully diversified, motivated, and inhabited by some of the most creative business professionals in the World.
